The Facilities Maintenance/Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry tasks for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of commercial and residential properties. This role involves collaborating with a maintenance team to ensure facilities are safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision. Day-to-day duties include performing routine and preventive maintenance tasks focusing on carpentry work such as framing, drywall installation, finish carpentry, and millwork; inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing structural damage; constructing and repairing woodwork and other wooden structures; reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, or building plans; collaborating with other maintenance staff and contractors on larger projects; maintaining inventory of carpentry supplies; responding to work orders and service requests promptly; and assisting in other maintenance tasks as required. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:15 AM to 4 PM, with on-call availability 24 hours per day and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds, physical stamina and manual dexterity, standing, walking, bending, climbing often for extended periods, working at heights and overhead, and working in close spaces and on roofs. Environmental conditions include working indoors and outdoors with potential exposure to extreme conditions and industrial settings with varying temperatures and noise levels. Safety compliance involves comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices, risk assessment and mitigation, proper use of PPE, participation in safety committees, and promoting a safe working environment. Desired experience includes journeyman carpenter certification or vocational training, proficiency with hand and power tools, solid understanding of safety regulations, and excellent communication skills. Required skills include a high school diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or carpenter, ability to read technical documents and drawings, valid state driver's license, teamwork ability, and physical capability to perform job functions safely.
