Job Description: TITLE: Linguist I/II POSITION TYPE: Full-Time (W2) LOCATION: Mountain View, CA WHO we’re looking for: We are seeking a Linguist to participate in various activities based on business needs, including: Supporting Machine Learning experts in language-specific areas for US English, such as creating grammars, providing language data, annotation for NLP projects, writing documentation, reviewing data, testing, and proposing improvements. Performing tasks like translation, localization, data annotation, phonetic transcription, speech synthesis, machine translation, natural utterance generation, grammar checking, ASR transcription, automation, and text mining. Researching, planning, and documenting product features for diverse audiences like developers, IT admins, sales engineers, and end users. Identifying and resolving issues related to documentation, schedules, structure, design, and deliverables. Required Qualifications: Native US English speaker with strong grammar, spelling, and syntax skills. Proficiency in Spanish with strong grammar, spelling, and syntax skills. Experience in translation and/or localization for English and Spanish. Ability to focus on repetitive testing and data review tasks for extended periods. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to build relationships and advocate internally. Familiarity with voice assistants like Bixby, Siri, Google Assistant, Alexa, Cortana, etc. Ability to learn technical information quickly, explain it to team members, and document it appropriately. Stay updated with trends and tools in the Android and mobile ecosystem. Familiarity with smart home devices and IoT. Quick learner of new tools and software in a Windows environment. Ability to understand and create use-cases for product features. Capability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high-quality content in a dynamic environment. Preferred Qualifications: Background in computational linguistics or NLP. Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics or related field. Experience with voice assistant software or academic settings. Scripting, programming, and database skills (Python, Pandas, NumPy, SQL, Regex). Knowledge of US English linguistics, syntax, semantics, and phonetics. Proven ability to write clear and concise documentation for various audiences. Experience in US English localization. Experience with Voice UX design and dialog management. Data analysis skills and proficiency with Excel functions and macros. Experience with content management tools like SharePoint, Confluence, Perforce, Git. Experience with developer tools such as Android Studio, Jira. Software QA/testing experience. Experience level: 0-3 years for Level I, 3+ years for Level II.
