Position Overview The Clerk’s Office provides qualified court reporters for all judges and the court reporter supervisors maintain a master court reporter calendar designed to assure the presence of a court reporter whenever needed, despite frequent unforeseeable changes in judges’ calendars. We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented professional to lead our Court Reporter Unit. This role oversees the daily operations of staff reporters across two courthouses and ensures the timely, accurate production of the official court record in a highly regulated environment. Example of Duties Key Responsibilities include: Managing Scheduling for court reporters in San Francisco and Oakland, and ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned. Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating a team of in-person and remote staff reporters. Designing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies. Strategically utilizing a nationwide network of official federal court reporters. Auditing transcript orders, court reporter invoices and their reports to monitor compliance with local and national policies and the court fee schedules. Generating and analyzing reports related to unit operations. Coordinating transcript and audio order fulfillment of digitally recorded proceedings. Partnering with court leadership to solve operational challenges and promote efficiency improvements. Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate at least three years’experience in progressively responsible administrative, technical, professional, supervisory or managerial roles that provided anopportunitytogainskillindealingwithothersinperson-to-personworkrelationships;the ability to exercise mature judgment; a knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, and theories of management and the ability to understand the managerial policies applicable to this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants who have: A bachelor’s degree Excellent oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences Experience working in a court Experience creating schedules and auditing documents Experience successfully managing sensitive personnel matters, working under pressure, and managing change Experience successfully managing multiple competing priorities, working with limited supervision, and dealing with others. Supplemental Information COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Compensation will be set based on experience and qualifications pursuant to the policies and guidelines set forth in the Court Personnel System (CPS).
