Contract: 10 weeks with a possible extension, depending on need

Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin 53215

Shift: 12hr Night Shift (36)

Shift Information: 1900-0700

On Call, Call Back Requirements: None

Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend

Holiday Requirements: One Holiday per contract

Floating Requirements: Yes

Patient Service Area (PSA) DNU: Greater Milwaukee

• Experience: RN: 2 years preferred - 1 year with strong skills
  • CNA: 1 year experience
• First-time traveler: Yes
• Patient Types:
• General Med/Surg population: COVID, wound care, COPD, CHF, diabetes, chest tubes, no peds
• Patient Ratios:
• RN: Days: 3-5

Nights: 6-8

• Tech: Days: 6-8

Nights: 6-8

• Required Certifications:
• RN: BLS
• CNA: BLS
• Skills required
• RN: Required- experience with insulin, heparin, Lasix, chest tubes, traches, wound vacs, NG’s, and JP drains.
• Preferred - cardiac drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine
• CNA: general med/surg experience
• Support on the Unit:
• Charge nurse, takes a patient assignment (3 pts-Day shift, 5 pts- Night shift)
• Unit secretary, 0500-0130
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• RT, 24/7
• Centralized telemetry monitoring, with no tele tech
• Phlebotomy to assist with peripheral blood draws
• Charting System/Equipment:
• EPIC - preferred
• Alaris
• Pyxis
• GE monitors
• Floating:
• all other MedSurg areas
• ED Holding – 1:4 ratio
• Travelers 1st to float
• Orientation:
• 1-2 shifts based on comfort
• Scheduling:
• Weekend rotation: every other
• Can try to accommodate block scheduling, but not guaranteed
• Can we approve time off? Up to 7 days, seek manager approval for additional time off
• On Call: none
• Holiday Expectations: every other
• Other notes or things you want us to check/verify?
• Scrub Color: Any - no camo/denim
• Must document pain level, before and after (1 hour for oral) giving pain medications - The pain score must also meet the pain score with nth medication order—i.e. if a patient has a score of 8, the RN cannot give the Tylenol that is ordered for mild 1-3. The RN must call for an order if the patient wants Tylenol for the score of 8.
